The Petition

Our Petition is designed to protect unborn babies in the womb from the moment of a detectable heartbeat in all non-extreme circumstances. We need to get 100,000 signatures in order to trigger a debate in parliament. Sign it today to help us take the first step to changing our law in favour of life.

A turning point in history

Within just a matter of days this June, we saw abortion being decriminalised all the way up to birth for women, and the passing of the UK’s first euthanasia law in the Commons. The protection afforded to human life by law now stands at an all-time low. But it’s not too late.

We want to send a clear message to policymakers that millions of us believe human life is inherently and immeasurably valuable. It should only be taken under the most exceptional of circumstances.

Campaign

Fact not opinion

Feelings are powerful, but ultimately, law should be based on facts, not feelings. Our campaign is committed to the highest levels of quality research to ensure everything we are pushing for is based on objective science and careful polling in a UK context.

The human heart starts beating at 21 days from conception and is detectable from around 6 weeks. This is scientific fact, not subjective opinion. Our legal objectives are undergirded by the latest embryological research, philosophical scholarship and razor sharp moral reasoning. We pledge to direct a portion of our annual funds towards relevant research questions each year.

A distinctly British campaign.

This law seeks to protect healthy British babies from abortion in non-extreme cases. It is inspired and led by British people and will be accepting no money from the USA in the completion of its goals.

Harmed by abortion? We're here for you...

We recognise that abortion is often a profoundly painful experience for women (and men) – many of whom were totally unprepared for the physical and emotional consequences of this decision.

We seek to remedy this harm in two ways. Firstly,  we are part of a growing network seeking reparations for individuals harmed by abortion. Secondly, we are here to connect anyone who’s been harmed by abortion to a non-judgemental, UK-based network that offers support, hope and healing after abortion.

But I'm Pro-choice?

Support of our petition and bill is not based on being pro-life or pro-choice. It’s about a person’s heartbeat, and asking: when is it okay to stop it? Currently in the UK, we intentionally stop the hearts of over 250,000 babies each year. That’s around the population size of Southampton, Wolverhampton or Luton.

98% of these are for social reasons, not the extreme cases often cited by proponents of our current law. Our bill seeks to protect every healthy baby who would be born to a healthy mother in all non-extreme cases. We believe this is something everyone can get behind no matter what their ideological starting point.

What counts as an extreme case?

Cases of rape, fatal fetal abnormality, and to save the life of the mother would all qualify as an extreme case.

Under this legislation, Down syndrome, club foot, and cleft lip will not be included under the definition of fatal fetal abnormality, meaning the detection of these conditions will no longer provide legal grounds for abortion, unless other extreme grounds can be met.
